Hillbrow police arrested 162 people in a crime combating operation at the weekend, Johannesburg police said today.
Police spokesperson Bhekizizwe Mavundla said the suspects faced charges including armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms, fraud and theft.
"It was part of an intensified police operation to combat crime in the Hillbrow area between Friday and Monday morning," he said.
The arrests were made in Hillbrow, Braamfontein, Berea, Joubert Park and Parktown and those arrested will appear in court during the course of the week. - Sapa
