Correctional Services Minister, Ngconde Balfour, is attending the trial of the four people accused of murdering Cape Town theatre legend, Taliep Petersen. Balfour says he works in the criminal justice system and often attends court proceedings.
Taliep Petersen's wife, Najwa, is said to have allegedly hired men to have her husband killed. He was shot and killed at his Athlone house in December 2006 in what was allegedly made to look like a robbery. The state is expected to wrap up its case next week.
The investigating officer, Josh Dryden, as well as an expert analysing phone records are expected to testify. Yesterday proceedings were adjourned early as one of the accused complained of feeling ill. Abdoer Raasiet Emjedi was diagnosed as being under stress.
