The Pretoria High Court has extended the bail of the so-called Waterkloof Four pending an application for leave to appeal in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
Christoff Becker, Frikkie du Preez, Gert van Schalkwyk and Reinach Tiedt lost their appeal in the Pretoria High Court today against their 12-year sentences for murder.
Acting Judge Willie Seriti extended the four's bail of R10 000 each under strict conditions. They will have to report to the investigating officer twice a week and are not allowed to apply for any travelling documents. The application for leave to appeal has to be filed within seven days.
The four assaulted an unknown man and murdered another in a park in Moreleta Park in December 2001. They were found guilty of their crimes in January last year.
