The case of three former pupils of the Hoërskool Akasia in Tshwane, who allegedly stabbed two of their fellow pupils in February, has been struck from the roll in the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court. The case was thrown out as the state prosecutor was absent from court and the case docket was nowhere to be found.
The boys, who cannot be identified as they are minors between the ages of 15 and 17, faced an assault charge. They allegedly stabbed matriculants Wikus van der Merwe and Wynand Botes three times each, outside the school gates. The Magistrate refused to postpone the case and struck it from the roll.
However, the accused can still be tried as the charges haven’t been withdrawn.
