459 arrested in Jo'burg over long weekend

About 459 people were arrested for various offences in Johannesburg central over the weekend, Gauteng police said today. Police spokesperson Xoli Mbele said the people were arrested in a crime-combating operation that started on Wednesday at 4pm and ended at 6am this morning.

Some of the offences the people were arrested for were common robbery, house robbery, possession of stolen goods, theft, fraud and driving under the influence of alcohol.
