The sister of murdered Cape Town music icon, Taliep Petersen, has described his wife, who is on trial for his murder, as manipulative and very persuasive. Ma-atoema Groenmeyer is testifying in the murder trial in the Cape High Court.
She says before her brother's death, she and Najwa were like sisters, but that this has since changed. Groenmeyer says Najwa called her on the night of the murder and was crying hysterically.
Najwa later told her while she was asleep that fateful night, Taliep came to wake her and next to him was a man with a gun to his head.
Najwa then accompanied the suspect to the safe as Taliep did not know where the safe was kept. During cross examination by the defence Groenmeyer denied reports that Taliep had beaten up Najwa, saying it was a blatant lie and that he always treated her like a lady.
