Brown has applied for leave to appeal a High Court ruling made in January
|
April 17, 2008, 11:15
The Cape High Court case is aiming to permanently attach the assets of embattled Fidentia boss, J Arthur Brown and his wife, Susan, has been postponed indefinitely. This is because Brown has applied for leave to appeal a High Court ruling made in January.
That ruling ordered that his assets be temporarily frozen until he could argue today why that order should not be made final. The assets are valued at R24 million. Brown's appeal on the temporary order is to be heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
Counsel for Fidentia's curators, Brian Pincus, agreed to the postponement, but he's described the appeal's chances of success as utterly hopeless.
