A large number of students have gathered on the campus of the Stellenboch University to protest against alleged police brutality.
The rally follows a police raid at three pubs in the town last weekend where patrons were allegedly assaulted. The manager of one of the pubs says criminal charges will be laid against the police.
A petition signed by more than 300 students calling for action against the police, has been handed over to the town's mayor, Loretta Maree.
The DA's Lennit Max, who also addressed the students, assured them that he has called on Western Cape premier, Ebrahim Rasool, to investigate the incident as a matter of urgency.
