Skielik murder case postponed

Johan Nel (18) the Skielik murder accused

Nel was declared mentally fit to stand trial in the Swartruggens magistrate's court

March 13, 2008, 12:30

The case against 18-year-old Johan Nel, who allegedly shot and killed four people, in Skielik has been postponed to April 14. The Swartruggens Magistrate's Court is waiting for a report from the Weskoppies psychiatric Hospital to determine his state of mind.

Nel is still undergoing observation. Last month the court granted Nel permission to be sent for psychiatric observation.

Nel is accused of killing people and wounding six others on January 14. The killings were not only condemned, but also described as a racist attack on the black community of Skielik.
