Former station commander Siphiwo Hewana

Siphiwo Hewana is at the centre of the controversy relating to Yengeni's alleged drunken driving.

March 12, 2008, 13:15

The former station commander of the Goodwood Police station, who was at the centre of former ANC chief whip Tony Yengeni's arrest late last year, has been fired.

Siphiwo Hewana was earlier found guilty by a tribunal on all six charges levelled against him.

He also faced charges of defeating the ends of justice. Meanwhile his legal team has indicated they will appeal the sanctioning.
