Direction of Zuma's court battle to be clarified

ANC President Jacob Zuma

March 07, 2008, 07:15

ANC President Jacob Zuma will know today whether he can challenge the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) application in Mauritius to access documents needed for their case against him.

Zuma is arguing that the Durban High Court Judge, who granted the NPA's request to access the Mauritian documents, did not have the authority to do so. Analysts disagree, saying the International Cooperation on Criminal Matters Act gives the Judge the necessary authority.

Last week the Mauritian Attorney General announced that he would oppose Zuma's application.
