The only survivor of the Kruger National Park shooting, Sunday Mpofu, accused the private rangers of having started the shooting.
Mpofu and his two friends were allegedly shot outside the Phafuri gate at the Kruger National Park. The three were allegedly accused of poaching.
Mpofu, who is fighting for his life at Musina Hospital, says they were conducting a community patrol against stock theft along the Madimbo corridor fence when they were shot.
The management of the Kruger National Park has issued a statement saying the rangers work for the Makuleke community. The community got a piece of land within the park back through the Land Restitution Programme.
Meanwhile the four rangers, who were charged with two counts of murder, and one of attempted murder, were each given R500 bail by the Mutale Magistrate's Court yesterday. Their case has been postponed to February 21 for further investigation.
