Man shot dead at Bree taxi rank

Johannesburg police say a man was shot dead and two others were injured at the Bree street taxi rank today.

Police spokesperson Julia Claassen says a group of men arrived at the taxi rank at 3pm and fired shots randomly at people including taxi passengers. A man aged between 25 and 30 years was killed.

A 36-year-old man and a woman, 25, were wounded and rushed to a local hospital. Claassen says the motive for the shooting is unknown. Police have opened dockets of murder and attempted murder. - Sapa
