Pretoria serial killer says he's HIV positive

October 26, 2007, 14:00

The alleged Pretoria serial killer has told the local high court that he is HIV positive. 36-year-old Richard Nyauza is facing 24 charges including murder, rape and robbery.

Nyauza has told the court police officials violated his rights after his arrest last year. He claims police had given him a concoction to drink while he was pointing out crime scenes and making statements.

The court has dismissed Nyauza's allegations. He is accused of killing 16 women between 2002 and 2006. The trial has been postponed until next Tuesday.
