A learner has been stabbed to death by a fellow learner in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. Police say Thembelihle High School learners from New Brighton were on an end-of-the-school-term celebration outing on a local beach last night.
Police spokesperson, Bonisile Sigobe, said: "A 19-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death by a fellow learner last night after a short argument. The incident took place at Kings Beach in PE. They were on an outing given the fact that it was early school closure yesterday. No arrests yet but I can assure you that by Monday we will have the suspect given that he's known and is a learner from the same school."
This is the third fatal stabbing incident involving learners in a week. On Sunday, King Edward's School pupil Mfundo Ntshangase was stabbed to death - allegedly by learners from a rival school at a party in Randburg in Gauteng. Yesterday at Mafe High School near Bergville in KwaZulu Natal, a learner was also stabbed to death, allegedly by a fellow learner, during the morning prayer session. Suspects have been arrested in both incidents.
