A sixth suspect wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of Mfundo Ntshangase, a pupil at King Edward VII School, was arrested last night, police reported today.
The teenager was arrested in Berea, Johannesburg, SAPS spokesperson Director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo said. He added that a seventh suspect was being sought by investigators and police were confident of making another arrest "soon".
Mariemuthoo "preferred not to say" where in Berea the teenager was arrested. The high density suburb borders Hillbrow.
The arrest follows the appearance in court yesterday of five Athlone Boys High school boys arrested after the stabbing of Ntshangase. The youths were released into the custody of their guardians by a Randburg magistrate.
Ntshangase, 18, was stabbed in the back, chest and lower abdomen. The five boys were alleged to have stabbed him at a party on Sunday. A friend was stabbed in the chest but survived. Ntshangase died in hospital. The case against the youths was postponed to October 10 for further investigation. - Sapa
