Johannesburg metro police have arrested 44 people during a roadblock in Soweto. This is part of the police's crackdown on petty crimes in a bid to create a greater respect for the law.
Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar, says 25 people were nabbed for drinking in public and 10 others for drunken driving. He said the other eight were arrested for urinating in public.
Minnaar said one driver was arrested after it was found that the number plates on his car, actually belonged to a motorcycle.
