The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it is confident of its case against Robert McBride, the Ekurhuleni Metro police chief. McBride appeared in the Pretoria Regional Court today on three charges of drunk driving, defeating the ends of justice and fraud.
He was earlier granted bail of R1 000 in connection with his accident last year. McBride was involved in an accident on his way back from a Christmas party.
The State alleges that McBride ordered his subordinates to remove him from the scene, intimidating witnesses and attempt to get false medical certificates.
McBride will stand trial in November.
