Two more taxi owners have been shot, one of them fatally, bringing the number of deaths in the Cape Peninsula to at least 13 over the past three months.
Siphokazi Mawisa, a police spokesperson, said one of the taxi owners, a 38-year old man was killed when he was approached by unknown gunmen.
At Zisa Street in Khayelitsha, a 27-year-old taxi owner was shot and wounded by three men. Mawisa says it is alleged that the man was at his house late last night when three men forcefully entered the house. The victim was later taken to a nearby hospital and is in a stable condition.
