Seven men have been arrested for being in possession of stolen cars and car parts worth R300 000, Pretoria police said. Lucas Sithole, a police captain, said police were acting on a tip-off and arrested three of the men in Kagiso at Cullinan.
Sithole said further investigations led police to a "chop shop" in Tweefontein in Kwandebele. At the shop police made more arrests and found stolen materials such as cars, engines, gearboxes and other vehicle parts. The search for the men took place from last night until this morning, added Sithole.
The suspects aged between 18 and 60 face charges of possession of stolen properties and theft of motor vehicles respectively. They are expected to appear in the Cullinan Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
