A 15-year old pupil from Sister Joans School in Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal is being treated at the local hospital after being stabbed with a pair of scissors by his classmate after an argument.
The boy suffered stab wounds in the chest and face. Zandra Hechter, a police spokesperson, said the suspect was arrested and expected to appear in court in the course of the day.
In another incident, also in Port Shepstone, two pupils were taken to hospitals with stab wounds after they were involved in an argument. Assault cases were later dropped after the parents of both boys entered into an argument.
Learners assault a man
Angry learners of Kebalepile High School in Mafikeng in the North West have set alight a car and brutally assaulted the driver for allegedly terrorising them at school. A learner and the driver were rushed to the Mafikeng Provincial Hospital with serious injuries after a learner was hit by the driver’s car.
Infuriated learners took the law into their own hands after having had enough of the 19-year-old man. The man is a former learner who comes to the school every day during lunch breaks to supposedly impress learners by spinning his car.
Maswe Mashatola, the school principal, says learners feel that their security was being threatened by this reckless young driver.
