Major sex ring busted in Southern Africa

November 27, 2006, 14:00

A major child trafficking sex ring has been uncovered between Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa. Children as young as 16 years old are being lured into the country and used as sex slaves and for pornographic material.

It is alleged the children are sold for R390 each. The Amazing Grace Children's Home is a child welfare organisation near the Lebombo border post. Vusi Ndukuya, is the home's specialist on child smuggling.

He says nearly 100 children from Mozambique and Swaziland are smuggled to Johannesburg along this route every month.
