Vilakazi granted new bail in rape case

Benedict Vilakazi, the rape accused and Orlando Pirates star, has been granted new bail of R1 000 by the Johannesburg Regional Court today.

This after the initial bail of R10 000 was overturned and Vilakazi ordered back into custody. Magistrate Naomi Manaka earlier revoked Vilakazi's bail because he failed to appear in court this morning. Vilakazi and his defence team were in the High Court this morning awaiting a ruling on a review application of the magistrate's decision not to postpone the trial.

This afternoon Magistrate Machobane granted bail upholding the initial bail conditions. Vilakazi is due back in court on Monday.
