Hundreds of learners and teachers converged on the Potchefstroom campus of the North West University for this year’s launch of National Science Week.
The annual 10-day event, which will be held in all nine provinces of the country, was characterised by workshops, debates, and exhibitions. The Minister of Science and Technology, Musibudi Mangena, officially launched the special Week.
Mangena says the National Science week has recorded tremendous success stories since its inception in 2000. He says the department has, over the years, formed relationships with science institutions locally and internationally -- the purpose of which is to create learnerships and work opportunities for deserving and previously disadvantaged learners.
This year’s theme is "Tomorrow's Science and Technology is in our Youth's Hands", the aim of which is to attract the youth to enter and remain in science related studies and careers.
