ANC presidential hopeful Zweli Mkhize says if he is elected to lead the party during next month’s national conference, he will be able to unite the ANC.

Mkhize has been addressing hundreds of party supporters outside Nkowankowa near Tzaneen in Limpopo.

Mkhize’s visit to the Mopani region comes at a time when the regional leadership is divided on its support for presidential candidates, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

Mkhize says delegates must elect leadership that will be able to unite the party.

“I am ever hopeful that we will be able to pull the ANC together because all the people who are out there talking are saying ‘lets dismantle the factions, let’s get rid of the slate politics’. When people meet as delegates they will be coming to ensure that the ANC emerges stronger and that is why you get it stronger by uniting the ANC. I am very hopeful that the delegates of the ANC, delegates want the leadership that will be able to elect a leadership that will be supported by the whole of SA,” says Mkhize.
