Zwane a no-show in parliament for State Capture questioning

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane has failed to appear before parliament’s Minerals Resources Committee to answer questions on State Capture.

Zwane has written to the committee to say he’s appearing at a National Council of Provinces (NCOP) committee.

The Minerals Resources committee says, however, that Wednesday’s date was suggested by him and it’s unacceptable that he has not arrived.

Zwane had said he was writing an exam last week and suggested that he should appear Wednesday (today). The Committee will now subpoena him.

Zwane is due to be questioned as the Hawks investigate allegations of corruption in the multi-million rand Vrede Dairy Project in the Free State, at a time when he was the province’s Agriculture MEC.
