The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says former President Jacob Zuma‘s leadership almost collapsed South Africa.

Zuma announced his resignation as head of state Wednesday night at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

EFF leader Julius Malema has addressed a media briefing on Zuma’s resignation, saying the EFF is not sympathetic to Zuma’s games of victimhood.

“He is a conman and a trickster who is caught in the wrong place in his victimhood with an aim of misleading the gullible into supporting him. We call on all South Africans to not fall victim of Zuma’s crocodile tears and victimhood game he plays every time he is in the wrong. The whole nation has been a victim of conman, imposter for more than a decade and no one should fall into the trap again.”

Meanwhile, the speaker of the National Assembly Baleka Mbete has confirmed that she has received a letter from Jacob Zuma informing her of his resignation.

Parliament spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo says the election of a new President will take place Thursday afternoon.

“We can indeed confirm that the letter arrived this morning and the speaker of the National Assembly has duly as in the rules will be published in the journals of parliament for the attention of the MPs. The speaker of the parliament has indeed thanked the President for the service that he rendered to the people of South Africa for the past 8-years and wishes him well.
