‘Normalisation’ of politics only after Zuma

North West University political analyst, Professor Andre Duvenhage, says he is not surprise by the establishment of the Save North West Campaign.

The organisation is aimed at exposing alleged activities of corruption within the provincial government.

Over the weekend, a meeting planned by organisers of the campaign in Mahikeng was disrupted by a group believed to be supporters of premier Supra Mahumapelo. One person was shot, a car badly damaged and a hall ransacked.

Professor Duvenhage says the matter is highly political.

“We are in the process of getting rid of Jacob Zuma as well as other related factors, and this is playing itself out in the North West as well. So I can understand the whole campaign of save the North West… I believe we are going to see patterns of instability, we are going to see patterns of resistance. But this is going to be part of political environment and I will like to say, only when Jacob Zuma is out of position, then we will see a normalisation of politics.”
