Parliament says former President Jacob Zuma has been invited to the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Zuma resigned as the president of the Republic on Wednesday night.
The newly elected President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver his first SONA in the National Assembly on Friday evening.
For the first time in almost a decade someone other than former President Jacob Zuma will walk on the red carpet to the doors of Parliament to deliver the address.
Zuma was due to deliver the address last Thursday.
However, National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete postponed it because of increased opposition to Zuma’s leadership.
