Zuma calls for unity within warring ANC factions

Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Jacob Zuma has called for party unity, urging warring factions in the African National Congress to accept the outcome of next month’s leadership contest .

He says factions have been so entrenched, comrades now see each other as enemies.

The president delivered a OR Tambo lecture in Kagiso on Gauteng’s West Rand.

The event was organised by the MKMVA.

As the year draws to a close, so are the celebrations of OR Tambo’s centenary year.

Headlining Sunday’s event, President Zuma did not waste any time urging unity among the ANC’s warring factions.

The MKMVA has long thrown its weight behind ANC presidential candidate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

With only ten days remaining before the branch general meetings conclude their nominations, the race to replace President Jacob Zuma is likely to intensify.
