President Jacob Zuma has filed papers seeking leave to appeal a full bench of the High Court in Pretoria’s ruling that he’s too conflicted to appoint the judge to head the state capture probe.

The court ruled in the judgment on 13 December that Zuma be held personally liable for the costs.

It said he must set up the judicial inquiry into state influence-peddling within 30 days. However, Zuma argues in papers lodged today that the ruling intrudes on the separation of powers doctrine.
