Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille is expected to deliver the State of the Province Address, (SOPA) 2018 on Thursday.
Zille is expected to outline five key strategic areas that will help grow the economy of the province.
The SOPA comes amid gripping drought which is the worst in more than a century.
The Premier’s spokesperson, Michael Mpofu says Zille will demonstrate how the province has so far survived an economic meltdown owing to the drought.
“The premier will also highlight very importantly that despite the drought, the Western Cape economy has been extremely resilient… in fact we have managed to create jobs, despite the difficult conditions since the taking of office in 2009 – we have managed to create above 600 thousand jobs in the Western Cape which is based on the latest survey… these will be some of the key focus areas the Premier will get our in her address.
