A 38-year-old woman, who was convicted of murdering her boyfriend’s three-year-old child, is on Thursday due to be sentenced in the High Court in Cape Town.
Anthea Kleynhans was also convicted on a charge of child abuse.
Lache Stols died in January 2012 after she suffered extensive abuse over a period of time, including multiple fractures and blunt force trauma to the head.
The court rejected evidence of the toddler’s father Angelo Stols.
He testified as a section 204 witness, meaning he could too face prosecution.
The little girl lived with her father and his girlfriend at their Happy Valley Home in Blackheath. Kleynhans has three children of her own.
