Free State African National Congress (ANC) heavyweight William Bulwane has resigned as a member of the provincial legislature (MPL).

The former ANC Provincial Secretary was sworn in as MPL less than two weeks ago. He’s already been replaced by former Free State National Health Education and Allied Workers Union chairperson Montsheng Tsiu.

Bulwane currently serves at the Free State ANC interim leadership co-ordinator following the dissolution of party’s provincial executive committee. He leaves at the time when Premier Sisi Ntombela prepares to reshuffle the executive council.

No reasons were given for Bulwane’s departure following a brief stint at the legislature.

The Office of the Speaker of the Free State legislature has welcomed the resignation.
