The wife of slain artist Walter Meyer will on Friday appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court in the Northern Cape for a formal bail application.

Twenty nine-year-old Sophia Meyer was arrested last week after her 52-year-old husband was stabbed to death.

The incident allegedly followed a quarrel.

The paintings of the acclaimed landscape artist have been exhibited in galleries across the globe for the past three decades.

Provincial police spokesperson Dimakatso Mooi says the suspect was arrested on the day of the incident, after she allegedly stabbed her husband to death. “On Wednesday she appeared at Upington Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and she was remanded in custody and she will on the 29th of December make a formal bail application.”
