The Stormers face New Zealand side the Highlanders at Newlands this Saturday in a must-win Super Rugby match, if the Western Cape franchise want to keep hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

After a disappointing loss away against the Jaguares three weeks ago, the Stormers bounced back with a draw against the Crusaders last weekend, and utility forward Cobus Wiese says it was a morale boosting performance against the defending champions.

Wiese, who has been playing at lock, but is equally comfortable on the side of the scrum, says they now need to keep their focus, and be mentally stronger.

The 21-year-old has Springbok ambitions but says for now he is just focusing on performing well for the Stormers.

Wiese says the Highlanders will be tough opponents, like all the teams from New Zealand.

The Upington born Wiese is in line to play his 25th Super Rugby game on Saturday, and says the Stormers have been working on improving a few areas this week. – Report by Rob Delport
