Wine tourism in the Western Cape is expected to improve after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between investment agency, WESGRO, and the wine growers organisation, Vinpro.

This as the acclaimed international wine magazine, Wine Enthusiast, nominated the province to the list of the 10 Best Wine Getaways for 2018.

WESGRO spokesperson Russel Brueton says the partnership will help to establish South Africa as the leading wine tourism destination and to also encourage the spread of visitors to smaller rural areas.

“In fact we were just voted or put on the wine enthusiast lit for 2018 of wine places to visit in the world, and what his new arrangement with Vinpro will allow us to better market the western cape and wine tourism to put some marketing resources behind it, to ensure that more and more people explore the different wine interest and opportunities that are there across the province, and so that we can grow even further,” he said.
