Residents of Westbury, west of Johannesburg, have expressed concern over the shortage of essential medicine including antibiotics and pain killers at their local clinic.

They say there’s also no baby vaccinations at the Westbury clinic.

Some children have had to wait for an entire month for medication.

The Gauteng Health Department says its not aware of the situation but will wait for the clinic to raise the issue with them.

A parent says: There’s never medications. Even the hospital doesn’t have the vaccinations for babies.”

“You have to come back the next day or you must go buy at the chemist. They say the medication has expired so they have to wait. I believe medication must be the first priority,” says the parent.
