North West Finance MEC Wendy Nelson has been sworn in as acting premier. Embattled Premier Supra Mahumapelo appointed Nelson after a protracted ANC Provincial Executive Committee meeting in Mahikeng.

Meanwhile, Mahumapelo says the Revolutionary Council, which he claims comprises of disgruntled ANC members in the province, should be held responsible for the damage to property during the recent violent protests in the province.

He told his supporters that he would lay charges against the council whose members are among those who have been calling for Mahumapelo’s recall.

“And I am happy that the municipality of Mahikeng is consulting lawyers so that the lawyers working with them, they can say a legal claim can be laid against the Revolutionary Council. All the buildings that have been destroyed; looting that has been done … that claim must be against the Revolutionary Council, because they are the ones who have been going around saying that they want to render the province ungovernable. ”
