Former World Cup referee Jerome Damon says the world need to embrace the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). VAR has been in the spotlight in recent weeks due to the controversial decisions in Europe. Damon is the VAR instructor in Africa having conducted several seminars across the continent in recent weeks.
The technology is going to be used in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in June.
Damon recently quit his long-standing teacher job last week after he was appointed as the Fifa’s Referee Development Officer for Africa.
South Africa is likely to be the first country to introduce VAR in the near future, and Damon is excited.
