Water restored in Sol Plaatje municipality

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley in the Northern Cape has confirmed that water supply has been restored to most of the town following infrastructural upgrades which started about five days ago.

The entire Kimberley went without water since last week as a massive pump station was also being built at the Riverton Water Purification Plant.

Water tankers were placed around the city to help assist the community.

Municipal spokesperson Sello Matsie says, “We had one place which was a bit problematic and we wouldn’t like to enter into a debate to say who was right or wrong. We did have a problem in one specific area in which water was flooding the place but that was resolved although it led to a bit of a delay and we would like to apologise for that.”
