WATCH: Constitutional Court ruling on dagga

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Constitutional Court is handing down judgment in a case relating to the private use of dagga or cannabis.

Last year the High Court in the Western Cape found certain sections of the Drugs Act and the Medicines Act to be inconsistent with the Constitution as they prohibited the use of cannabis by an adult in a private home for personal consumption.

Several ministers including those of the Police, Health, Social Development as well as the National Prosecuting Authority brought an application for leave to appeal this judgment in the Constitutional court.
