Vote counting completed in W Cape

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Head of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Western Cape, Courtney Sampson, says the counting of the results in the province has now been concluded.

He says the results from 18 municipalities have been captured and published.

Sampson says in the remaining municipalities, there are technical exceptions that still need to be resolved. He says he hopes to release the final provincial results by Friday.

“The counting is done. The result slips are all with us and at the moment its really just  capturing at those sites that need to be concluded. The one biggest place of that is outstanding is in the city of Cape Town in the metro. We are so having to deal with a few exceptions there and once that is done and it will be plain sailing from here on-wards.”
