VKB Knights coach upbeat ahead of Sunfoil 4-day series

Reading Time: 2 minutes

VKB Knights head coach Alan Kruger is optimistic his charges will do well in the Sunfoil 4-day series starting in September.

Unlike in the past when his team performed below par, Kruger believes they will play better this time around.

The mentor is the former Assistant Coach of the Knights, and took over from former Proteas Player Coach Nicky Boje earlier in April 2019.

In their last 4-day series, the Knights finished off 4th earlier in 2019 and recently finished off 5th in their Momentum One Day Cup games from six teams in both tournaments.

Kruger is upbeat.

The Kimberley-born coach says losing senior players like Duanne Olivier was their big setback.

Olivier went on to join Yorkshire in England earlier in 2019.

Kruger adds that they look forward to seeing what Shaun von Berg brings to the side, after signing from Titans two months ago.

The 38-year-old is a former cricketer, who has played for the Eagles and the Knights. He says he wants to see them win trophies at the Free State Union again.
