President Cyril Ramaphosa says the government has informed the World Health Organisation of South Africa’s first case of the deadly coronavirus.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases has confirmed South Africa’s first coronavirus (COVID-19) case in the country.

President Cyril Ramaphosa briefed the media at the Waterkloof Airforce Base in Pretoria on Thursday…

“What we would ordinarily do with a situation is to immediately be in touch with the WHO and the minister has done that. We are in constant contact with the WHO. … But at the same time, we will also be in touch with a number of other experts around the world. We are just at the beginning of this and we will keep informing South Africans very openly about the steps that we will be taking.”
