Vicky Momberg loses permission to appeal conviction

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Convicted racist, Vicky Momberg, has been refused permission to appeal against her conviction and two year jail term.

Randburg Magistrate Pravina Rugoonandun upheld her guilty verdict on four counts of crimen injuria.

In February 2016, Momberg used the K-word 48 times against police officers. This is borne out by eye-witness evidence, 10111 call centre recordings and a video.

Magistrate Rugoonandun says, “The use of the K-word is the ultimate of disrespect to the laws of our land and our fellow citizens, it’s the most abhorrent word in the lexicon of the South African language, it is mental oppression and denigration of the human spirit. From the argument, this court is of the view that there are no prospects of success – the application for leave to appeal on both the sentence and conviction is accordingly dismissed.”
