Alleged bribe prompts replacement of Vanara

The Presidency has confirmed on Tuesday that President Jacob Zuma has been briefed by National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete on allegations of interference by the State Security Minister Bongani Bongo, in the inquiry by the Public Enterprises Committee, on Eskom’s affairs.

This follows claims that recently emerged – alleging that Bongo had tried to bribe evidence leader, Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara to withdraw from the inquiry.

The matter has also been referred to parliament’s ethics committee.

Parliament’s ethics committee co-chair, Omie Singh says in this case Mr Vanara who is the registrar allegedly had an attempted bribe by Minister Bongo; they will need to appoint a new registrar to replace him in this particular case.
