Reading Time: < 1 minute

The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department together with the South African National Blood Service are calling on donors and residents to donate blood at their nearest blood banks.

The province is facing a shortage of blood as it’s left with a two-day supply.

Health MEC Dr. Sibongiseni Dlomo has urged people to donate blood to help those who are in desperate need of it.

“We continue to request our South Africans to improve the blood stock levels so we can continue supporting our people those who are actually unwell, in accidents – we need blood, women who lose a lot of blood are our cancer patients on treatment even without treatment – we need blood. Now we know we are in a busy period preparing for schools – reopening but we are pleased with our South Africans – one pint of blood can really save life. I did my contribution last week. About two days stock of blood levels in our province.”
