Security company loses contract after UFS protest

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The contract of a private security company at the University of Free State in Bloemfontein campus has been terminated.

This comes after students complained about the heavy handedness during the last month’s anti-fee hike protest.

The Qwaqwa campus also saw violence clashes between students and private security personnel.

The university has appointed a panel of investigators to probe the role of private security company during the students’ protest at its campuses Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa.

The hearings that are part of the investigations are taking place at both campuses.

The student community has been invited to make both oral and written submissions in these hearings.
