Reading Time: < 1 minute

Two people have been killed in a head-on collision between two cars at the intersection of Alpine road and Umngeni Road in Durban.

Operations Director for Rescue Care Garrith Jamieson says several people were injured. He says they were treated on the scene before transported to the nearby hospitals.

Jamieson says authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. “On arrival we had two motor vehicles collided, one vehicle left the road and ended up in a canal. Two people were trapped in the vehicle in the canal. Paramedics climbed to a canal to assist them and treat them. The Durban search and rescue extricated the patients and assisted them in carrying them out to the waiting ambulances. On the second vehicle, there were four occupants and two of them unfortunately sustained fatal injuries.”
